Before and After

I LOVE doing projects! I love the before and after reveal and to go back and admire my work after the finish.

These old chairs were dark and stained and the seat was too wide to fit three chairs up to one side of the table. I love the light, bright, clean look of the after picture!

What I did:

  1. Unscrewed the seat from the original chair and trashed it.

  2. I used a jigsaw to cut the knobs off the side of the upper chair.

  3. Traced the seat frame shape with newspaper and cut it out.

  4. Outlined the newspaper shape on A-grade plywood with a pencil.

  5. Cut the plywood with a jigsaw.

  6. Attached new seat from underneath with screws.

  7. Sanded the whole chair.

  8. Sprayed with chalk paint.

  9. Sanded edges for a slight distressed look.
